So, one of my things for 2026 is using practically no social media. My reasoning for this? It’s simply a happy medium. I’ve tried social media, I doom scroll every time I load up instagram or TikTok. And, I’ve tried going full cold-turkey. And, well, logistically and realistically speaking, that doesn’t work. It’s not practical to have no TV or games consoles when that is a big way of socialising these days. If anything it made me more isolated.
So, my plan is to simply limit the social media I use, pretty much just iMessage and Snapchat for like, two or three people. Which means, I either have to lose 300 photos from my Instagram, or find somewhere to put the photos.
I could have to saved them to the many folders on my laptop, but even those are becoming cumbersome, and I still want to share my life, but doing it on an instant style app like Instagram or Snapchat is not good for my mental health so this here, is my compromise.
My website. I am going to make a post detailing the first half of the decade. talking about all the photos and experiences, something that I didn’t really get to do to the same extent on Instagram or Snapchat.
Then, after this post, my plan at least… Is to make a post at the end of every month, talking about every photo I took that month. Instead of uploading things daily to apps like Instagram, I’ll make one long post each month. That way I can spend less time worrying about filters, likes and comments, getting the right angle and subsequently scrolling after every post, and more time being present.
Being real and touching grass. Which is something I’ve learnt that I really need, after the past twelve months of doctor’s offices and hospital rooms, medications and diagnoses. I want to focus on me, so I can be a better me, for my few people, online and offline.
That will also help me be more consistent here too, which was something I’ve been promising for years. As well as allowing those close to me to see what I’ve been up to each month without a new mirror selfie every other day. So, I hope this works.
This blog post will be 2021 only, I don’t have any photos from 2020, I am not even going to try and fit all 4 years in one post.
My Instagram posts started in 2021, but I really don’t think I missed much. For this year, all my posts were photo dumped on a few different dates throughout the year, so I can only really comment if they were in the first half, or the second half, of the year.

These were taken when I went on a hike, sometime in May 2021, you’ll see that a lot of my posts from this year were very “I love trees”- this was when i was very deep into my “I want to be vegan and wear barefoot shoes” era. This was a forest in North Wales called Wepre Park. I haven’t been there since, and I’ve been meaning to go back there.

These photos were also from… May I think? I went to Chester to see the ducks. The random selfie is staying, the selfies become a lot more sparse over the coming years, I promise.

A selection of photos when I walked the Wirral way, also in early 2021, stopping at Thurstaston and West Kirby Beach. To note, the caption to the selfie was “happy when i’m outside”. Cannot relate, but maybe I’ll get back to that point, one day. That little sign on the beach though? That made my planet loving heart so happy at the time.

These photos were from the same walk, including the black and white selfie. I lost that hoodie shorting after this photo was taken, I miss it a lot. It was my favourite Simpsons hoodie ever ):

A few random pictures- the time I was able to tie my hair up for the first time after cutting it super short, a really nice ice cream on one of my hikes, a random beach and… another selfie, at a train station in Wales. Every time I look at my bedroom at my parent’s house, I miss it. I love living alone, but, things were so much simpler then. I was so young, I had the world at my feet. But in a way, I guess I still do.

Bit of a big photo dump, but this was a trip to Llandudno I went on via a long train journey. Some photos were taken from the train, some were taken while I was there. It’s such a beautiful place in Wales.

Here’s a selection of black and white selfies I took in the last half of 2021, I took a lot of selfies back in the day. I do apologise sincerely. The second one was the day before I accidentally sliced my toe wide open. Yuck. My hair was getting much longer in the last photo, I was very happy.

This was my new MacBook, before the one I have now, a random mirror selfie with a hat that was never seen again after this photo, a pathway I trekked up in Wales to find a Burger King, and, proof I found the Burger King haha.

Some photos from June 2021, the time I went to the everyman cinema and they brought food to our chairs! As well as a Tango Ice Blast (my favourite drink ever!) and a random meal from the bingo!

Ah yes, Snuggle Pie. In July of 2021, when my mental health was, not at its best, I opened my bedroom door one morning to see my mum had left me this before she went to work that morning. I found out he fit into 10” teddy clothes so I got him some cute PJs, and he was a great friend for me haha

Just a collection of food and drinks from 2021 (there’s a lot more in the coming years lol!) Photo one is a Tango Ice Blast from June, photo two is a milk I got from a Maccas drive through lmao, photo three is a meal I got in a cafe in September, photo four is another meal from a cafe in December. I cannot remember which cafe ): and photo five is a random hot chocolate, I think from Asda Cafe. Photo six was a basket of chicken from the bingo lol and photo seven was pizza and coke from Asda. Photo eight was salt and pepper chicken from the one place in my home town lmao, while I watched the Netflix version of Series of Unfortunate Events. Photo nine was a random Maccas bag, and photo ten was a pizza I used to get a lot at Pizza Hut until it closed down!! I am still not happy about that. But I also used my glass straw with my coke because, you know, the turtles.

Why is there so many selfies? I cannot answer that. But here are three photos of me, all the same spot in my parents garden. Except in one, I look like a farmer. That is all.

I probably didn’t have to save every selfie but… hey ho. Photos one and two are from August 2021, and photos three and four are from September. The fifth photo is from October, when my hair was finally long enough to slick back into a bun!! The unicorn is called Pixel, by the way.

The first photo is the most 2021 photo ever, waiting in the Maccas drive though as the restaurant wasn’t open because of the virus. Photo two was a literal mushroom growing out the old wooden step in my patently back door, and photo three was a wedding bus that was on my old street! I had never seen a red double decker bus before!

The first photo was in December, when i found a tiny pair of glasses so me and one of my little koalas could match. The second photo was from a bag and a bottle that I bought from Etsy a few years prior to 2021, I’m not sure why I posted it on my Instagram in 2021 but, here it is. The third photo is of a Belroy pouch and wallet, both which I still have! I’ve had to replace the wallet with an identical match, as I broke the zip on the last one. Lmao, the fourth picture. This was taken on Christmas eve night, though I cannot remember the context to it but it still makes me giggle nonetheless!

And finally, Christmas. And it was the last Christmas I spent living at my parent’s house, but I did not know that then! The first photo is the table set up. Yes, there are Australian toy animals, and yes, I used to have my Christmas day on the night of Christmas Eve as that was “when it was Christmas in Australia”… lmao. The second photo is of my dinner and the third was the haul I got for that year!
I did originally want to make this all as one post but I wasn’t even going to try and put all 300 on one post so I’ve decided to split it up year by year. I should be able to upload each one at the end of each month, if not sooner!
