Balearic Islands, Spain – Hotel & Blog

Actually proud I made it to spain this year after the year I’ve had. I’m travelling here for a week with my mum, and i’m going to try and write this while i’m still here! I know, Alex actually writing in real time instead of six months after the fact? A rarity.

Packing List

This is everything that I was packing- minus the vans and one of the hats which I travelled in, but not pictured was a black hoodie which I decided to pack last minute. I don’t travel as minimally as I used to, but over the years i’ve learn the right amount of clothes, while still sticking to a mostly monochrome colour palette so all outfits go together. This packing list includes:

• 1 Zipped Black Hoodie (Uniqlo)

• 2 Pairs Of Linen Pants (Uniqlo)

• 3 Pairs of shorts (2x Adidas, 1x Decathlon)

• 1 Black Skort (Uniqlo)

• 4 T-Shirts (Uniqlo)

• 9 Camis (4x Amazon, 5x Uniqlo)

• 7 pairs of underwear (Uniqlo)

• 6 Pairs Of Socks (Uniqlo)

• 3 Bras (1x Nike, 1x Amazon, 1x Adidas)

• 3 hats (Adidas, Stone Island, FYL)

• 2 pairs of Sandals (Primark & Teva)

• 1 Pair of Platform Vans (Vans)

• 1 Travel Towel (Dock & Bay)

• 1 Toiletry Bag (Amazon)

Can we tell what my favourite store is? I fell in love with Uniqlo this year, after they opened one locally to me in Liverpool.

I also took a backpack on the plane with me (not photographed) and in that I had:

• 1 Tech Kit with:

  • Apple USB-C Power brick with European Adapter
  • 2x UCB-C iPhone cables
  • 1x MagSafe MacBook Cable
  • Nintendo 3DS Charger
  • Camera Charger
  • Small Tripod With Phone Adapter

• Nintendo 3DS With Case

• Nintendo Switch 2 With Case

• Sony ZV1 Camera With Case

• Medication

• A Book

• MacBook Air M1

• A Mouse With Mousemat & Case

• 2x Notebooks & 2x Pens

Hotel Room Tour

This was the entrance way, with the bathroom on the left of this photo but to the right as you’re walking in. it has some hooks for hats or jackets.

I do apologise for the yellowness of these photos, I didn’t arrive until close to 2am! I have a private balcony through the curtains, there’s a mini fridge and a narrow desk/dressing table, surprised it came with a kettle as I’ve heard a lot of european places don’t include them in their hotels.

Do you all see what I first saw? DRAWERS! No hotel I’ve ever been in has included drawers before! I was so happy. Granted this was 2 am this morning and travel madness had fully set in that that point. The wardrobe was spacious and has enough hangers for all my (rather colourful) clothing.

(the colourful clothing)

I’m not sure what the red phone does but it gives me vibes of that horror movie with the red door (The Conjuring?) I feel like if I pick up the phone the devil will answer so I think i’ll pass on that one this time.

This is the bathroom, the branding is very on point as it’s even on the towels! I love and appreciate little details like that! There are, once again, no shelves in the shower. But I’ll let them off because of the drawers. We can’t have everything now can we?

Itinerary (7 Nights)

Day One (15th October)

The first day was a full travel day, I boarded the plane at 7pm, but before that I ate at an airport restaurant and it was very nice. I had a chicken burger and fries and a coleslaw. I then took my travel pills so i didn’t throw up on the plane!

I am a terrible flier so I was anxious the whole time. I thought flying with my mum would help but… It did not help.

Once we had landed we had to wait so long for our bags, but in their defence we did get off the plane rather quickly.

Then we found the coach transfer that took us around the whole island to drop people off at their hotels.

Afterwards we checked in where the guy at reception gave me a glass of lemon water and put on my all-inclusive wrist band!

The hotel offered ‘room only’ where you pay for just the room and everything else costs extra, ‘half-board’ which includes the room and breakfast and dinner, and ‘all inclusive’ which includes the room, all meals, snacks and drinks and amenities- which is the one I chose as it’s the best deal in my opinion.

Only the All Inclusive people get the wrist bands so the staff know not to charge us.

Day Two (16th October)

I woke up about 9:30 and had a shower, before heading to breakfast. Oh my, there was anything and everything you could imagine. I didn’t get any photos of it, it was super busy but I will TRY one day this week.

After breakfast I went to sit by the pool for a few hours with my music and notebook where I got SEVEN pages of writing done!

I took this photo of me, thought I’d share it here as I can’t remember the last time I posted a recent photo of me here!

After that I went to my room to freshen up before heading down to lunch. There will be a lot of food this week because I WILL be getting my moneys worth!

I sat on a table outside and the staff member took my order of a chicken pita and coke, and it was very nice indeed. Once he cleaned my planes I asked for an ice cream and he came back swiftly with one. I was going to get a brownie with it but I may have that tomorrow instead!

After lunch I relaxed for a while, I did some editing, I wrote some of this very blog post, and wrote some more of my book. Then I wanted to go and sit by the pool for an hour before it closed at 5:30pm, so that’s what I did, where I got ice cream and cola!

After that I did some more editing, I listened to some music and wrote some more. I sounds kind of boring but this is my idea of a good RELAXING holiday. I’m relaxing when I know i’m still getting at least something done.

After that we went for dinner. Every night is a different themed dinner and tonight (Thursday night) was BBQ, I didn’t know what most of the stuff was but I tried salmon for the first time and really liked it!

I promised I would try and get as many pictures of the food as I could so this was the selection of photos I got from Thursdays Dinner. I can’t promise I’ll get pictures of every meal every day (not that anyone would want to see that anyway) but I will try my best!

After that I sat outside for awhile and drank cola out of a ‘fancy glass’ (not my words, hehe) and then it was almost time for my to take my medication so I headed to my room and to bed, where I played some Animal Crossing and watched youtube before I slept.

Day Three (17th October)

I felt super groggy when I woke up this morning, so I almost missed breakfast, so I went for food before I had even had a shower! I didn’t take any photos of breakfast, just one from a snapchat photo I sent.

After breakfast I showered and then went to sit by the pool and I managed to write about five pages of my novel! I have a fear of water (but I’m trying to conquer all my fears) so I managed to sit on the edge of the pool today, it may not seem like much but I was really proud of myself!

For the rest of the morning and early afternoon I laid in the sun. I ate ice cream, did even more writing and drank a lot of cola (I’m really not a big alcohol drinker), it feels very nice to just relax and since it is a 16+ resort, not having screaming children around is so lovely.

After lunch I was given whatever this was. Some sort of… Apple cake? Apple pie? Apple in Spanish is Manzana. Thanks, Duolingo. After that I want to change out my swim stuff ready for going out in the afternoon.

The afternoon was… not the best- nothing to do with my trip, just, life. I went to the beach though! I got some cool photographs to go with the other photos i’ve taken in other countries. I went to a small store and got a long shirt thing to wear by the pool, and then I cried for two hours. It doesn’t matter now, though.

I pulled through dinner (tonight was Spanish night!) but then I just wanted to go to bed, so I called my girlfriend like I do most nights to sleep on call and then I headed to sleep.

Day Four (18th October)

I was up early this morning, so I was able to shower before I went for breakfast. Breakfast was the same as every morning and I didn’t have the biggest appetite in the world as I was still feeling overwhelmed from things that happened, but then afterwards I went to sit by the pool on the subbed that I rented for the day. Here is me in the shirt I got yesterday!

I sat there all morning, I wrote pages and pages until my pen ran out of ink. I had multiple ice creams, cokes and lemonades and I braved the pool… well, just the first step. I hope by the end of my trip I’ll be able to be completely in the pool, a fear I have suppressed for FOURTEEN years. I haven’t been in the pool since my second year of high school, at age twelve.

I had steak, mash and vegetables for lunch today. I know I may sound like an old age pensioner when I say this, but that was the best mash I’ve had in my life. Afterwards I had my usual ice cream before heading back to sit by the pool!

A while ago I bought this little carabiner off amazon, I saw someone with one on a YouTube video and thought they were cool, they can be used as a standard carabiner or they too can fold out to hook onto everything: bathroom stalls, restaurant tables, and as i found out today, literally anywhere. Found this little hole today and well…

The pool closed at five, so I decided to go to the laundromat which was pretty much next door! That’s so convenient! I put my clothes in the washers and went wandering around the shops as I had precisely 44 minutes to spare. I wanted a pair of swim shorts that actually fitted me, as I only own one pair, you know, because I am not the biggest fan of the water, and they were too small- so I saw these ones for just under €20, so I got them.

I sang for a while as I was alone in the Laundromat and the acoustics in there were top notch! But then I went to look around a bit where I took some cute photographs and I even found a place that sells bubble tea!

These were the photos that I took of some quiet narrow little Spanish streets. The whole town is super clean and quiet!

I then came back to my hotel room where I hung my clothes on the little thingy to dry and met my mum downstairs for dinner. This was the outfit I wore tonight along with tonight’s meal! Afterwards I headed up to my room for the night as we were planning a trip to the Marina tomorrow (I heard there’s lots of stray cats there!) so I needed to be well rested! I also had video clips to edit, and this blog post to write!

Day Five (19th October)

Today was another groggy start, so I had breakfast before I had a shower, today’s plan was to go to the Marina, so I knew I had to shake the grogginess off as I had a lot of walking to do!

After my shower I headed out but it was such a long walk! I stopped every now and then to take some photographs and then i stopped off at a restaurant for a coke!

I walked for a little longer and walked along all the yachts, if I ever came here again, I’d go on one of the sunset yacht rides! It would be something I would love to take my girlfriend on one day!

After I had walked around the Marina, i saw this train stop, for a little tourist road train so I waited for that to go back up into town where my hotel is. But, it’s me, so I obviously missed my stop so had to stay on it for the whole loop around, which was very nice and a good way of seeing a lot of the island!

After that we made it back to into town where I went to a multitude of tourist shops where I eventually found a small notebook, as i find it easier to write in little notebooks, to then type up later. Especially in the sun, as it’s hard to see a screen in the sun.

I then got back just before the end of lunch where I got sweet and sour chicken and rice and Sprite as I wanted a change from coke! Then I i just sat by the pool for a few hours.

After lunch I sat by the pool for a few hours but, as boring as it sounds, I had so much editing and filming I had to catch up on, especially with all the photos and videos i took while I was out this morning so I decided to go to my room for a few hours. I was proud that I got most of what I needed to get done finished! Then I went for dinner which was Mallorca Night! After dinner I called my girlfriend so I could sleep (I really struggle at night so she stays on call all night with me)

Day Six (20th October)

Today was super cloudy, but I had paid €25 to rent one of the better sun loungers so after breakfast I headed outside with my AirPods and my new notebook, aiming to get about ten pages of my book written by the end of the day!

I swear I feel the cold more than most people, I spent the majority of the morning using a towel as a blanket! My mum had gone out into the town shopping all morning as she had euros that she wanted to spend, so i was all alone. Just me, my cola and chocolate ice cream! Also here is a random elevator selfie of me haha!

I sat by the pool, despite it being cloudy all day, but I got TEN pages of my book written today. We then did a quiz which the whole resort took part in and it was flags… I won, getting them all right in the fastest time by far… I don’t know what I won as I was too anxious to go up and get my prize.

I had lunch and saw a cute bird, and my mum headed out for the afternoon where she brought me back a lot of snacks as when I write I get peckish! I was quite content spending the afternoon alone where I played animal crossing.

I went to my room shortly after that, as it was getting really breezy and I had some editing to do, but after a few hours the red Devil phone… RANG ME.

EXCUSE ME?

I did not answer… So they called my mum’s red Devil phone… they just needed to scan my passport down at reception, so we went there on the way to dinner. Scared the living daylights out of me!

After dinner I didn’t really want to go to my room so I went on a walk around and it was so relaxing walking through all the Spanish streets and eateries! I also got an ice cream from Burger King. Then I went back to the hotel where I sat downstairs and watched the karaoke and live music and drank a hot chocolate!

At 10pm I needed to go to my room to take my meds, so I watched some YouTube and drank the bubble tea my Mum got for me earlier on today.

Day Seven (21st October)

This morning was a slow one, I almost missed breakfast! But I didn’t, it was the same breakfast. I do miss my normal breakfast back home… *cough* a red-bull *cough*… But today I had apple juice.

After breakfast I went to sit by the pool. All week I have been plucking up the courage to get waist deep in the water and today I did it! I haven’t been in a pool for 14 years so I was super proud of myself!

For the rest of the afternoon I drank cola, ate chocolate ice cream and wrote my book. Then i had turkey and fries for lunch!

Me and my mum played UNO for about half an hour, I knew bringing my Mini UNO set would come in handy at least once this week haha! Afterwards I needed to get some editing done so I went to my room for a few hours before dinner.

Dinner was Oriental Night, which my mum didn’t like, but I rather enjoyed, after dinner I went out on the hunt for bubble tea and after that I went to my room and did some more editing and then had an early night, as I had a long day of travel ahead.

Last Day (22nd October)

Today I had to be out of my room by 12pm but the hotel lets us stick around the pool area until the coach picks me up at 7:15pm. And yes, I had my normal breakfast today!

I spend the majority of the day writing, and getting a last bit of a tan before going back to cold wet england. I took this picture off my balcony today, thought it was proper aesthetic, haha!

The hotel said after 12pm today we are no longer a guest but they still let me eat as much as i wanted until my coast came! Google said there’s no blanket rule but it’s up to each hotels discretion if they let you eat after you’ve checked out- this one did. I had a pizza for lunch followed by an ice cream at about 3:30pm.

I got on the coach at just gone 7pm and it was about an hour and a half trip to the airport, where I checked in my bag, ate McDonald’s and then I flew home. I am a really nervous flier but I think I did okay!

I really like spain, the culture, the language and everything about it and I really want to go back one day!
