Okay, it’s took me a long time to get to these. I went to the Hilton twice in quite quick succession of each other. Both in the same hotel, but in totally “different rooms”. Now, there was quite a big price difference between these two rooms. Like a £100 a night difference. And you may be thinking “Oh that isn’t so bad! Especially if the rooms are vastly different!”. Well, just hold that thought for one moment.
The first room I got was the standard room and ‘without a view’ which meant it was on the other side of the hotel, with no sea view. This is in Blackpool, so, there isn’t much else to look at other than the sea. I was still able to take an aesthetic picture for instagram though, of me… looking out into a car park. The joys.

Now, for the room. This, as I mentioned was the standard room, pretty much- the cheapest of the cheap you can get. Now, I want you to pay close attention to everything. All the pictures of the rooms I’m showing you today are taken before the room has been “used” per say, the most I would have done would be unpack. And I travel minimally… obviously. So what you see is what you get.
First Hotel Room – Entrance

So this is the entrance. The door is to the right and there’s a small clothes hanging space to the left, alone with the red sliding doors for the bathroom. Next to it there is a counter with the usual, very British, kettle. 4 tea bags, 4 milks, 4 coffees. There was one drawer with a hair dryer and one drawer that contained a safe. One cupboard was empty and the other was MESNT to have a fridge in it. It as the ventilation for one, the sign for one, but it was missing. Like it has been ripped out the cupboard by a fridge-stealing thief or something.
First Hotel Room – Desk Area

Really didn’t know what to call this area. But, I was very surprised by the size of the TV. But, did I watch it once? No. I didn’t. Unlike my trusted premier inns, they had nowhere to plug in a fire stick. And it’s not a smart TV. 8/10 for the size. 2/10 for its functionality in todays world.
All the plugs have normal UK pin plugs, as well as USB-C ports!!! Not the regular USB-A ones that you see in airports and planes and the Premier inn, but the new cooler USB-C ones. Baffles me to no end at the fact they have them… but not a smart TV. You doing… okay Hilton hun?
Cute little bin that fits one drinks bottle. 4/10. nice chair and I love the floor to ceiling windows and curtains. Does make me feel like I’m gonna fall right through it though. Whole room is controlled via a mains switch that’s constantly illuminated at the front of the room by the door, and as soon as you turn it on the TV blares on with it’s annoying and very infomercial-sounding music. Almost pooped my pants. -98997/10.
First Hotel Room – The Bed

I get that beds are a very personal preference. But, I hate these beds. I hate them so much. They’re all the same in every room, is what I’ve gathered from my experience and from overhearing other peoples experiences too. But I do love a crisp white sheet. I live plump pillows and it’s the same size as my bed at home. It’s just a lot colder as my bed at home heats up and this one doesn’t!
There’s one bigger bedside table, with a little cubby hole under it, and a lamp. On the other side is a smaller table with just the room service phone. There are plugs on each side of the bed and switches to control all the lights and lamps in the room too. Top notch.
First Hotel Room – The Sofa

The first thing I noticed were how quirky the pictures were. They’re not something you see everyday. I like how the sofa is integrated with the bed but on the other hand it really does give me that caravan vibe. But I thought “oh this is the cheapest room so that makes sense!” Also, that think in the right is the air con. The week I stayed in this room was the hottest week of the entire year. It was much appreciated and made me feel like I was back in the land down under. 12/10.
First Hotel Bathroom – Toilet & Sink

Did I seriously not get a decent picture of the toilet in all its glory? Sometimes I think I’m too proper for my own good. Shame on you, past Alex. Anyway, this was the sink with the towels and I think one of them is a bath mat, you’re never too sure which is which at hotels. At home my bath mat is a massive stone. No mistaking that for a towel. Maybe I could make a post about that, one day.
I have the same soap pumps at home so they were pretty underwhelming but for some people they like them. I like them too, I put them in my house bc I wanna feel like I live in a hotel. Just call me Zach and Cody. I like how the mirror lights up, and the little tissue box cover. Also just as a side note, every handle, mirror, tap, and the little trinkets are polished to perfection. Everything.
First Hotel Bathroom – Shower

Past Alex used to be scared of showers. Like, I avoided them for a lot of my life. Opting rather for baths and finding very creative ways to wash my hair. But now, gosh- I think I’m a bit of a shower snob. And this one passes the test. It’s wonderful. Even has a shelf in there. You’ll understand why that’s funny in my next blog post.
Shall we talk about how clean that glass looks though? Damn. I didn’t get a picture of it, because obviously my picture taking skills 6 months ago were not great… but they had the same shower soap dispensers that I have in my bathroom… again. I can’t remember if I took my own shampoo and stuff the first time I went but I definitely did the second.
Second Hotel Room – Entrance

Yes you see that right. This isn’t the first picture slightly edited and flipped. This was a “deluxe queen suite” (with a sea view, obviously). You can feel my… weird looks I gave this room through the screen, I’m hoping. Same place to hang my clothes. This one did have that black thing on the wall for bags and coats though. Well worth the extra £100 a night.
Same cupboards, all with the same things but this one… HAD A FRIDGE!! I some reason, even though I was there a week, never took a picture of it… so you’ll all just have to take my word for it. But it was great for drinks but I would have found it a lot more useful in the first room since that was the hottest week EVER, but, I shan’t complain.

I don’t know why I took this extra picture. The first hotel room has a mirror too but, hey ho. When I was collating all the pictures for this post, I found this one that didn’t match any of the others. So. That’s that.
Second Hotel Room – Desk Area

Starting to look scarily similar yet? My original idea was the make a comparison post, as I thought the two rooms would be vastly different but it’s literally just a mirrored clone with a view. Which, for someone who loves everything looking the same, I do like, but not for the massive price difference between the two? I don’t understand.
Second Hotel Room – The Bed

The exact same hard bed. I do really like the pillows though as it’s like my head is sleeping in a big fluffy cloud I just wish the rest of my body could get that same treatment, you know? I kept the curtains open for these pictures unlike last time (whoops!) and I must admit, the view was very nice. I, most mornings did find myself losing track of time while gazing out at the ocean.
And, because of the time and place I went, I had a front row seat to Blackpool illuminations from the window. Got to see the lil light up trains and everything. But again, same bedside table setup. This time the bigger of the tables was on the right, and I sleep in the right hand side so I was rather happy!
Second Hotel Room – The Sofa

Yes. Identical. And, I didn’t picture it but the exact same prints in the wall or at least very very similar… I didn’t mind though, I liked them and the cute lil mirror. A lot of mirrors in those rooms, but for those that read my last blog posts, there will never be as many mirrors as there were in the bedroom of my last Airbnb in Australia!
Second Bathroom – Toilet & Sink

Slightly better picture this time. I really liked the shelf on top of the toilet? Behind the toilet? I don’t really know how to describe that. All very clean, and I am very fussy over cleanliness. Not a speck of dirt. This time I bought my own soaps and stuff, which I kept in that fun shelf. I am a little weird aren’t I lol.
Second Bathroom – Shower

I realised that the bath mat was the thing hanging in the different space to the towels. Whoops, again… I wish I had a shower like this in my house, I just really like it, I don’t know why. Though once I stayed in a premier in that had a bath!! I am also glad that this shower has a little shelf. You’ll understand in my next post.
Conclusion
So, I hope I was able to describe the lack of differences well. There are none. Except for the fridge which I really think the first room was actually meant to have as well. The only other difference was the view, but that was not what the listing said but oh well. If I was to go back there, I would definitely pay the extra because I find the sea so calming. It reminds me of many far off places I would rather be than here.
